Cultural transformation at Technoraid
From an industrial company to the agile fluidity of a startup
- client request
In a context of increased competition and fast changing customer expectations, Technoraid, which specialises in preparing rally raid vehicles, wanted a deep cultural transformation of its business model and its company culture.
The business started out in an industrial and logistics world, and it now plans a bold transition towards a more agile and innovative structure inspired by startups. The objective is clear: to position itself as a company that creates exceptional adventures for its customers, going beyond vehicle preparation to offer a complete and memorable experience.
From vision to cultural transformation
To make that vision real, Technoraid recognises how important it is to involve its people in the transformation process. The organisation wants to establish a culture where every team member is a key player in innovation, contributing actively to the design of a new and groundbreaking product. This collaborative approach aligns with the values of the Makers, which promote creativity, experimentation and the sharing of knowledge and skills.
- challenges
In the transformation Technoraid has in mind, several major challenges stand out, and each one needs attention and a suitable strategy to overcome it.
Cultural transition. A radical change of culture (industry to startup) calls for an effective internal communication strategy and sustained support for employees. Everyone needs to buy into the new direction, while the skills and the achievements that have made the business strong so far are preserved and recognised. Change management has to head off resistance and encourage a new collective dynamic that supports innovation and lets everyone flourish.
Employee involvement. To reduce resistance to change, the business wants every team member to take an active part in designing a new product, the Renovatio, which I cover in my talks. That process requires close collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and ideas. The challenge is to create a work environment where everyone feels heard, valued and involved in the collective success. That means setting up spaces for dialogue and exchange, training in new working methods, and recognition of what each person contributes.
Adopting the Makers philosophy. This philosophy puts the emphasis on creativity, experimentation and sharing. It has to run through all the processes and practices of the business and support a spirit of continuous innovation, where a mistake is seen as an opportunity to learn and improve. It will be backed by co-creation workshops and dedicated training that encourage every employee to explore, experiment and innovate continuously.
Customer satisfaction: The leadership team wants to offer customers a complete and memorable experience that goes beyond simply preparing rally raid vehicles, by creating adventure. That calls for a deep understanding of customer expectations and needs, and the ability to propose tailored solutions that create value and emotion.
- stakes
Each of these issues is a key stage in the transformation journey of Technoraid, and the way they are answered will determine the success of the business in its pursuit of innovation and excellence.
Securing buy in and engagement in the change. According to a McKinsey study, 70 % of business transformations fail because of employee resistance and a lack of engagement. For Technoraid, the move from an industrial environment to a startup culture built on innovation and creativity has to happen smoothly. The stakes are high, because it means securing the buy in and the engagement of every employee in this cultural change while preserving the achievements and the strengths of the business.
Getting every employee actively involved in designing a new product. For the leadership team, getting every employee actively involved in designing a new product is a serious challenge, just as it is out on the course during the Dakar. The aim is to establish a collaborative and inclusive culture where every employee feels valued and contributes to the innovation process.
Building an environment that supports continuous innovation. According to a PWC study, 77 % of companies see a lack of creativity and innovation skills as a major obstacle to transformation and to establishing a culture of innovation. For this client, the aim is to build an environment that supports continuous innovation and the improvement of products and services.
Ensuring fast and effective development, in step with customer expectations and market realities. With the business in survival mode, putting in place a creative and fast methodology for developing new products and services matters a great deal. According to the Harvard Business Review, companies that adopt Lean Startup perform 50 % better when launching new products. For Technoraid, the aim is to ensure fast and effective development, in step with customer expectations and market realities.

- results
The success of the cultural transformation project at Technoraid rests on active and committed participation from employees, combined with a steady focus on customer satisfaction. The business has skilfully integrated the core principles of agility, creativity and a culture of innovation, while involving its customers at every stage, which secured the success and the durability of its transformation.
Cultural transition. The cultural transition succeeded because every employee bought into the new culture fully and with enthusiasm. That buy in translated into a significant increase in their engagement in new projects, visible through higher productivity and a more harmonious working atmosphere.
Employee involvement. Employee involvement was a key element of this transformation. Employees valued being actively involved in designing the new strategy, which allowed the business to broaden its services and its customer base. A clear improvement in internal collaboration was also observed, marked by smooth communication and constructive exchanges. Recognising and valuing what each person contributed strengthened the sense of belonging and satisfaction at work.
Adopting a new philosophy: "the team state of mind". The adoption of a new philosophy, "Le technoraid way", centred on the team state of mind and the 4 values (tailored, responsibility, community and innovation), was quick and accepted by everyone. The culture of innovation grew stronger, with employees better able to experiment, learn and adapt quickly. That translated into a rise in the number of innovative projects started and completed.
Customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction improved significantly, measured through surveys and positive customer feedback. Customers, consulted throughout the transformation, felt heard and valued. By placing the customer at the centre of its innovation approach, Technoraid aims to build lasting relationships based on trust. This customer centred approach strengthens loyalty and also attracts new customers, contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the business.
